[BOOK REVIEW] A MESSAGE TO GARCIA BY ELBERT HUBBARD
DECEMBER 3, 2019
Episode 16
Bill and Rick discuss Elbert Hubbard’s 1899 essay, A Message to Garcia. Using the true story of a messenger in the Spanish-American War, Hubbard espouses the usefulness and dignity of service, and the importance of a “right-hand man” that can get things done.
This short read is not an ode to conformity nor a reification of established hierarchical structures: rather it is to think for yourself and to allow those you trust to do the same.
